An UnbreakABLE mom
First off, let me say that I LOVE each and every one of my families that I photograph. They are all beautiful in their own ways, and none of them are perfect (though some sure do look like it!!). But as a single mom, I’ve been feeling a need to produce something showing a different type of family- since so many families don’t have a mom and dad under one roof.
I was SO thrilled to have the pleasure of photographing Juli and her PRECIOUS daughter. Juli is not only a doctor, but a champion of single moms, and the author of the blog Unbreakable Moms. Through her difficult journey as a single mother she has made it her mission to empower single moms to find health and happiness for themselves and their kids.
The thing about being a single mom, as you’ve heard, is that it’s HARD. And some days it’s difficult to experience joy with your kids. But the flip side is, when you do find it, it’s magnified. It’s singing and jumping on the bed and being SO dang appreciative of the happiness you’re feeling for just this moment, that it seems more intense than the joy you used to feel.
That’s what Juli and her daughter reminded me of. The pure exhilaration of mom and daughter who are MAKING it.
Not all the single parents I photograph will look like this. And that’s ok. I want to show the raw reality of it, too. But on this day, Juli and her girl showed up playful and authentically joyful and we made some magic!

I wanted a place to compile a few of my favorite in-home newborn session images for easy sharing and for expectant moms to see examples of what they can expect from their newborn lifestyle session. These sessions are comfy, easy, connected and cozy. I absolutely love taking photos of baby in the nursery or snuggling with mom and dad on their bed. This sweet angel baby is already so adored by his family! I am so lucky to know him, his hilarious big sister, and his mom and dad. We were so excited about his arrival that we did both a studio newborn session for just him, and an in-home lifestyle newborn session so that we could capture natural light nursery photos, sibling photos and family photos. Capturing them in their beautiful home was just a dream. Take a look for yourself!

This was one of my favorite sessions because not only do I love these people and their sweet new baby, but I LOVE their Austin mid century modern house with amazing views. Such great taste and such a treat to spend time there!

Baby C Studio Session | Austin Newborn Photographer
Newborn sessions are always interesting because there is a lot of time to visit with mom and dad. Especially when they're the first baby and there are no toddler to wrangle! Not only was this precious girl just so beautiful and petite and cooperative, I just loved talking to her mom too! Baby C's parents are so good-natured and positive; she's a lucky little lady!
Although I offer newborn sessions in studio, the style still remains natural and simple. I keep things crisp, white and neutral and I generally allow the babies to lead the posing and arrange themselves on their own to show their cute little budding personalities. Baby C Had the cutest little hands and facial expressions. So sweet and curious. Here are a few of my favorites from her studio newborn session:
